Dr. Yue Yu
Research Scientist
Dr Yue Yu is a Research Scientist in the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education, Singapore. He studies learning in young children, especially how early learning is shaped by the social context in which it takes place. He has published over 20 journal articles in top developmental journals (Child Development, Developmental Science, and Developmental Psychology) as well as journals aiming at a broader audience in psychology and cognitive science (Open Mind, Scientific Report, Topics in Cognitive Science, etc.)
Dr. Yang Yang
Research Scientist
Dr. Yang Yang is a Research Scientist in the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education, Singapore. Her research has been focused on 1) children’s emotional development from infancy to middle childhood, 2) the factors that affect children’s social and emotional development, such as cultural backgrounds, parenting behaviors, parent-child interactions, and child temperament, 3) how children’s emotional development relates to their later psychological wellbeing and learning.
Chelsea Chua
Full-time Research Assistant
Chelsea obtained her BSocSci (Hons) in Psychology from National University of Singapore in 2023 and has newly joined the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education in 2023. She has always liked working with young children and is interested in children's development of Theory of Mind and how it relates to children's lying and learning behaviours, as well as parenting-child relations. This has inspired her to join CRCD with the hopes of working with young children in future as an aspiring counselling psychologist.
Desiree Toong Wee Ling
Full-time Research Assistant
Desiree obtained her BSc (Hons) in Psychology from SIM-UB in 2022 and has newly joined the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education in 2023. Her keen interest in statistics naturally gravitated her towards the field of research. Her research interests lie broadly in social cognition as she is deeply intrigued by human behaviour. As such, her ultimate goal is to cultivate a thriving community where everyone feels valued and heard through education.
Kelly Adelia
Full-time Research Assistant
Kelly obtained her BSocSci (Hons) in Psychology from National University of Singapore in 2021 and she has joined the Centre for Research in Child Development, National Institute of Education ever since. She is fascinated by children's fresh perspective of the world and particularly their understanding of other people's minds and emotions. This inspired her to further explore children’s social-cognitive development and she hopes that it allows her to contribute in equipping children to face the world.
